Step two: Move to a larger space or imagine one. Pick a point fifteen feet away. Speak the same sentence to that point. Increase the breath push from your diaphragm. Your volume will rise naturally but you're not forcing it from your throat. The increase comes from more air pressure, not more tension.
Step three: Imagine speaking to someone thirty feet away in a large room. Speak the same sentence again. Maximum breath support. Your stomach should feel like it's working. Your throat should still feel relaxed. If your throat tightens, you've lost the mechanism. Reset and try again.
Run through all three distances three times each. The point is to build a tactile sense of how much breath support different room sizes require. You're training your body to auto-adjust without you having to think about it mid-presentation.

- Speaking too fast. Projection requires sustained airflow. If you're rushing through sentences, you run out of breath and default back to throat-based volume. Slow down. Take full breaths between phrases. Give yourself the air you need.
- Over-projecting in small spaces. You don't need maximum breath support in a ten-person meeting room. If you use step-three projection in a small space, you'll sound like you're shouting. Match your support level to the room size. That's the whole point of the drill.
- Forgetting to reset mid-presentation. Even with good technique, you'll drift. Your body wants to revert to old patterns when you're focused on content. Build in reset points. Pause between sections. Take a deliberate breath. Re-engage your support. It takes two seconds and saves your voice.
